First Leo Club
In
1957, William Ernst y Jim Garvert, began a conversation about youth.
They
were both Lions from Glenside Club,, Pennsylvania (E.E.U.U.) and they have
the same corncern: how to educate the younger from their community and
teach them to be leaders and serve their place.
Their
idea was, the foundation of a club of and for young people.
One
day they presented the idea to the jungle of their Club, which was
inmediately approved
Jim
and Bill talked to Abrington Secondary School Headmaster about their plan.

Since
then the process became easier, the fist Leos in the world were recruited,
beginning with Jim’s son qho came to the first meeting with the whole of
his Beisball Team.
The
name "leo" was cosen because it matched with that of Lions.
In
1964 there was 24 Leo Clubs in Pennsylvania
The
operation was oficially approved by the Lions International Asociation
Clubs Board of Directors
Soon
this movement spreaded all over the world, open to all youngers from both
sexs, being the first countries to accept this challenge in favor or
youth: United States of America, Argentina, India, Finland, Canada and
Japan.
Lion
Jim Garver died, but lion Ernst went on the work they both had started,
this time being the adviser of Alington Leo Club.
The
first Leo emblem was a circle with a Lion frontal head with the words
"Leo Club" and the other three words "Lidership, Experience
and Oportunity"
Before
becoming oficial the Leos Clubs, the lions had sponsored young groups,
which many of them turned into Leos Clubs.
NOW YOU KNOW HOW THIS
BIG FAMILY CAME : "THE LEO CLUB"
